CLAP ISB MBA students, visited, Mysore Sandal Soap Factory on 20th April 2018, the slot given to us by the factory for visiting was 2:30 pm.

We started at 12:30 pm and via metro we reached Mysore sandal soap factory. After reaching the factory we gathered in museum of the factory, where Mr. Balakrishna ,Marketing and R&D head explained us about the saponification procedure and the key ingredients used to make the soap, palm oil (Imported from Malaysia), casting soda, salt water and sandalwood oil.
They have the patent for sandal wood oil (looks similar to honey and has same density) which cost 500000 per liter. As we were less in number and disciplined, Mr Balakrishna offered us to show the production process. Mr. Balakrishna briefed us about making of soaps, which is divided into 3 steps, base soap stage, furnace stage and sandalwood oil perfume addition stage. Mysore sandalwood soap factory (About 100 years old), with 1600 employees working under it .It has stopped hiring people. If exist a need of human resource, employees are hired on contract basis.
